James Taylor is a folk singer-songwriter, originally from Boston, U.S. His big break onto the mainstream came in 1970 with the No. 3 single "Fire and Rain. Just one year later, he hit number 1 with his cover of Carole King's classic "You've Got a Friend" and since then, he has become one of the most influential songwriters of all time. The seventies was a pioneering time for folk, with the likes of Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Nick Drake, Tim Buckley and many more rising to fame.
Taylor's second album, Sweet Baby James was a smash hit in 1969, selling 1½ million copies in its first year and over 3 million in the United States alone. At the time the record was thought to be a folk-rock masterpiece, it included the stunning single "Fire and Rain", which rewarded him with several Grammy Award nominations and No. 103 on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
James Taylor's career of almost 50 years has become legendary, he still continues to write and perform to adoring fans with his band of high class musicians.
